A Few Words from our President
Thanks for expressing interest in the Adirondack Luge Club. The sport of luge is challenging, exciting, and above all, fast! Whether you’re a young athlete in your early teens aspiring to make your way onto the U.S. National teams, or if you’re an adult who just loves speed, we have a home for you in our club. As athletes, officials, coaches and volunteers, the Adirondack Luge Club is an active home for sport sliders and a great start for the Olympic stars of the future.
If you’re 10-14 years old, the Adirondack Luge Club is the perfect place to learn the sport of luge. We’ll take you under our wing and show you the ropes. If you have the talent, and just as importantly the enthusiasm and interest, you might find your way into the U.S. National Development team – the first step on a path that could lead all the way to the Olympics. We’ll help you get there.
If you’re older, we still have plenty of opportunities to slide and compete. Our members slide and compete on the track in Lake Placid, NY, Park City, UT, and we’ve even travelled to Igls, Austria. Our members are also officials and coaches supporting the U.S. National team program, National Championships and World Cup races. I started sliding 8 seasons at the age of 39 and consider it to be one of the best decision of my life.
Regardless of your age, we’ll teach you what you need to know, starting you out slowly at the bottom of the track, and progressing upward as your skill develops. The sport is all about sliding fast and challenging yourself, but we’re absolutely committed to doing it safely.
I hope to see you at the track.
