Adirondack Luge Club
Your heart is pounding in your chest. Your breathing echoes in your helmet. You are sitting alone on the sled, staring at an icy chute curving and bending its way down the hillside. The light turns green, and you launch yourself into the track.
The wind whistles past your helmet, G forces press you down into the sled. Walls flying by you inches away. All too soon, the track bends uphill and the speed begins to bleed away. Seconds after it all started, your run has come to its end and you can’t wait to do it again!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to slide down the track at 30mph, 50mph, even 70 mph? If that’s your idea of a relaxing way to spend a Saturday evening, then you’ve come to the right place. Welcome to the Adirondack Luge Club.
If you’re a youth athlete aged 10-14, we’re the perfect place for you begin your luge career. Many of our youth club members have gone on to the USA National Luge team and Olympic Team. What is the Adirondack Luge Club, and what do we do?
The Adirondack Luge Club is a United States Luge Association-sanctioned Sport Club, charged with promoting the sport of luge in the eastern United States. Members of the Adirondack Luge Club participate in the sport of luge during the winter months, predominantly on the artificial track at the Olympic Sports Complex in Lake Placid, NY. Members also serve as officials for National and International races. During the offseason months, the club promotes the sport to youth groups, schools, and communities in our region of the country. We support and participate in wheeled-sled training and recruiting sessions to hone our skills and introduce the sport to new athletes year-round.
